Museumpark
The main function of a park is finding a moment of relaxation in our busy every day lives. Technology helps us make our lives easier but it can also be a huge source of distraction and sometimes we forget what is really important. There is a lot of technology around us. Visible and invisible. For the Museumpark and the new Boijmans Museum collection building, I wanted to use its mirroring facade by creating a reflection of its invisible surroundings, going from digital to physical space. The inspiration for my research came from two episodes of VPRO Tegenlicht about ‘offline as a luxury’ and ‘smart cities’. In collaboration with a design studio, they made an app called White Spots in which you could see all the transmission towers in your surroundings. The mapping of these towers around the Museumpark area formed the base for my design.
